Sapa Industrial Extrusions has Selected Granco Clark for New Press Line Upgrades

Belding, MI —Sapa Industrial Extrusions has selected Granco Clark to upgrade the leadout/runout system on their existing 4250-ton Sutton press line at Sapa’s Spanish Fork, Utah facility. The upgrade includes a 36” wide powered roll conveyor system that will replace an outdated Belco slat conveyor for their 14” diameter press. The new conveyor included solid Kevlar rollers, profile deflectors between rollers and side fences for profile containment. This new design incorporates all of the features necessary to handle the unique operation of the direct/indirect press.

The patented technology simultaneously cuts both the new log and the remaining billet as they emerge from the furnace to remove the oxide layer just prior to welding, then joins them together under controlled pressure and rotation. The result is a completely bonded single, uniform billet with near perfect alignment, oxidation elimination, and unquestionable weld strength without micro grain structure change.
