Press Line Upgrades Feature Granco Clark Heating and Handling Systems at Sapa Extrusions

Sapa Extrusions, L.L.C., of Delhi, Louisiana has upgraded heating and handling systems on two press lines with Granco Clark equipment, enhancing efficiency while reducing handling and reducing scrap.

One press line was upgraded with a Granco Clark Model 69 Hot Jet Log Furnace and Model HBCS 69 Hot Log Saw; the second was equipped with a 812 Furnace/Hot Saw combination. In each case, the saw permits accurate and consistent-length billets to be sent to the press, avoiding deformations caused by older log shear designs. Each system will also include a “no-scrap” cycle that will use the entire log by creating two-piece billets at log junctions.

Granco Clark Double Pullers with cut-on-the-fly capabilities are also included on each line, replacing an outdated single-puller /dead cycle saw arrangement on one line, increasing its productivity to the limits of its handling system.

The other Double Puller,added to a press line that previously had no puller; is optimizing system capacity and process control while reducing scrap.
