Postle Chooses Granco Clark Again

Belding, Michigan— Postle Distributors Inc. of Elkhart, Indiana has chosen Granco Clark to supply the complete heating and handling system for its new 2000-ton press line.

The heating system consists of a model 69-30-3 “Hot Jet” log furnace with the intent to process 7” diameter billets. The system will include an integral model HBSC 6/9 hot billet saw.

The handling system will feature a 150’ cooling table, has 3” belts, and is equipped with the proven Granco Clark double puller with enhanced chip collection system.

An undertable air cooling duct within the runout system will provide cooling from the bottom of the profiles. Profiles will be straightened by a 25-ton one-man/no-man stretcher, and cut to length with a Granco Clark finish saw with automated gauge system.

Granco Clark will also supply a double end-flow age oven complete with automatic conveyor system, and two chest style die ovens to efficiently and reliably heat the tooling prior to extrusion. All of the Granco Clark equipment is controlled by the ‘SCSExtrude’ supervisory computer system.

This new and fully integrated extrusion system will allow Postle to further advance their already very strong position in the highly competitive distribution market by ensuring product quality and production efficiency.

Founded in 1947, Granco Clark began manufacturing billet furnaces and has evolved into a global, single-source supplier and leading equipment manufacturer to the aluminum extrusion industry.  Quality is a key component in every extrusion system the company fabricates—from billet log furnaces and log shears to age ovens and stacking equipment.  In 1986, the company introduced the Granco Clark Supervisory Computer System (SCS) to enhance efficiency by developing schedules, loading equipment parameters, tracking faults, and logging production and downtime data.  This integrated control system has since developed into SCSExtrude—the next generation nerve center for automated extrusion lines.  SCSExtrude helps Granco Clark customers improve extrusion line management and reduces equipment downtime.
