Granco Clark Completes New Extrusion Handling System Installation at Ullrich Aluminum Pty Ltd.

Granco Clark has completed a new extrusion handling system at Ullrich Aluminum Pty Ltd.’s Hamilton, New Zeeland facility.

The new handling system features include a Runout Cooling Duct System along with a High Pressure Spray Quench to provide the greatest rate of heat transfer possible, allowing for maximum extrusion speed with minimum space requirements. The system includes a Granco Clark Double Puller with two puller heads on the same track to deliver a “cut on the fly” capability.

A Transfer and Cooling Belt System is integrated with the stretcher to straighten and batch profiles for downstream operations. An 80-ton CVC (Controlled Vertical Crush) Stretcher provides precise, accurate stretching that will enhance profile quality and minimize scrap. The system also includes a Saw and Saw Gauge, providing close-tolerance cutting and allowing for maximum throughput with limited manual intervention.

Founded in 1947, Granco Clark began manufacturing billet furnaces and has evolved into a global, single-source supplier and leading equipment manufacturer to the aluminum extrusion industry.  Quality is a key component in every extrusion system the company fabricates—from billet log furnaces and log shears to age ovens and stacking equipment.  In 1986, the company introduced the Granco Clark Supervisory Computer System (SCS) to enhance efficiency by developing schedules, loading equipment parameters, tracking faults, and logging production and downtime data.  This integrated control system has since developed into SCSExtrude—the next generation nerve center for automated extrusion lines.  SCSExtrude helps Granco Clark customers improve extrusion line management and reduces equipment downtime.
