Granco Clark Selected for Almag Aluminum Upgrades and Installations

Almag Aluminum Inc., Brampton, Ontario, Canada has again selected Granco Clark to upgrade the heating system on an existing press line. The equipment is a Model HBCS 69 Hot Log Saw. Transport equipment to deliver the billet to the press is also included. This equipment was custom designed to mount and integrate with an existing “Non-Granco Clark” furnace. This is the second new Granco Clark saw system that Almag has added within the last year.

The new cutting system will provide Almag with equipment that will offer accurate and consistent length billets to the extrusion press. The use of the saw eliminates the deformation of the existing ‘80s era log shear design. The system also provides a “no-scrap” cycle that will utilize the entire log by making two-piece billets at the log junctions.

They have also selected Granco Clark to upgrade their existing 6” runout conveyor with Kevlar covered rollers and a hot profile saw positioned at the press platen. The runout conveyor consists of idle rolls that were designed to replace a 70s era slat conveyor system. At the platen end, the hot profile saw automatically severs the extrusion during the dead-cycle, eliminating the need for operator intervention.
